Friends Together Success Story
Tillie joined Friends Together in March of 2001. Initially, she was very quiet and shy, had limited socials skills and was reluctant to make eye contact. During her first year with AccessAbility, Tillie participated in Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy which helped to increase her functional independence. Prior to joining Friends Together, Tillie was living at home with her family. Her AccessAbility Case Manager worked closely with her social worker and conservator to help Tillie move from the family home to a group home setting. In August of 2002, Tillie moved into her new home and is learning new skills and becoming more self-sufficient.
Today, Tillie is more outgoing, interacts more easily with peers and staff, and uses more eye contact. She has shown a great sense of humor and is more willing to try new activities and go new places. Best of all, Tillie has made many new friends and continues to grow toward her real potential.
