Horticulture Success Story
Ron grew up on a farm as a child and a large source of his family's food came from the garden. He actively participated in gardening activities as a young boy. Over the years, Ron's participation became limited because severe epilepsy made him less mobile. Through AccessAbility's horticultural program, Ron has been able to reconnect with his love of gardening and the outdoors. He helps weed both the raised and the above ground annual flower and vegetable beds and participates in the greenhouse activities. He also assists with seed planting and really enjoys watering the plants. Ron has experienced improved speech and social interaction since being involved in these activities. He has become a more outgoing person and is more willing to communicate with others.
