MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - AccessAbility is excited to announce that Frank Vascellaro, co-anchor of WCCO-TV evening news, will be serving as Master of Ceremony for its 70th Anniversary Gala. The event will be held on November 16, 2018, from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m., at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Park. The anniversary event celebrates 70 years of AccessAbility’s innovative work meeting the needs of the community through its mission of providing opportunities for people with barriers to employment and community inclusion.
Frank co-anchors the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. news Monday through Friday at WCCO with his lovely wife by his side. In 2006, Frank and his wife, Amelia Santaniello, became the first married couple to co-anchor a daily news program in the Twin Cities.
He was awarded the 2011 and 2012 Regional Emmy® for Best Anchor. Growing up in Denver, Frank attended the United States Air Force Academy before transferring to the University of Colorado Boulder. He later studied broadcasting at Columbia College in Chicago. He worked as an anchor/reporter at WAND-TV in Decatur, Ill., and at WHOI-TV in Peoria, Ill.
Serving as emcee and auctioneer for a live auction and fund-a-need, Frank will assist AccessAbility in recognizing the contribution of supporters, the experience of the individuals served, and the important role that the organization continues to play providing opportunities for people to experience the dignity of work and to participate in our community.
