Business Council for Social Enterprise--Materials Recycling Facility

AccessAbility, Inc (AAI) is a nonprofit and social enterprise servicing people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Located in Northeast Minneapolis, AAI has continually reinvented itself through creative social enterprise offerings that leverage the unique talents of the people working for and with their employment services.

Over the past 5 years, AAI has operated a materials recycling facility (MRF) that has provided important employment opportunities for people leaving the criminal justice system while generating revenue for other programs. As the MRF environment changes, AAI is seeking a business council to help guide changes to the program and facility to allow AAI to remain profitable and grow the customer base.

The business council will partner with the business leader for the Materials Recycling Facility to understand the MRF market, create opportunities for strategic growth and advise on supply chain and pricing optimization that will increase productivity and profitability.

The business council will be a four to six-month opportunity, with periodic in-person meetings and check ins and support via a monthly call.

We are seeking 5-7 operations, supply chain, sales and marketing professionals, both experienced and seeking experience

Working with vulnerable populations, AAI Requires background checks for all volunteers.

This business council members who are successful in this role will care deeply about the community, be flexible in working style by understanding the unique demands of a social enterprise/nonprofit and possess a scrappy creativity and entrepreneurship that matches that of AAI, an organization which has evolved over time.


Business Council for Social Enterprise—SecureDocs

AccessAbility, Inc (AAI) is a nonprofit and social enterprise servicing people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Located in Northeast Minneapolis, AAI has continually reinvented itself through creative social enterprise offerings that leverage the unique talents of the people working for and with their employment services.

Over the past 5 years, AAI has operated a secure document destruction service (SecureDocs) that has provided important employment opportunities for program participants while generating revenue for other programs. Due to the loss of a flagship client, SecureDocs is entering into a business planning and sales planning cycle. AAI is seeking a business council to help guide the growth of this important business line.

The business council will partner with the business leader for SecureDocs to understand the document destruction market, create opportunities for strategic growth and advise on supply chain and pricing optimization that will increase productivity and profitability.

The business council will be a four to six month opportunity, with periodic in-person meetings and check-ins and support via a monthly call.

Business Strategy Council for Imagine Design and Relatively Funny

AccessAbility, Inc (AAI) is a nonprofit and social enterprise servicing people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Located in Northeast Minneapolis, AAI has continually reinvented itself through creative social enterprise offerings that leverage the unique talents of the people working for and with their employment services.

AAI has a successful product line called Imagine Design and is launching a new retail line called Relatively Funny. The program participants of AAI create clever, funny, inspirational or religious themed gifts and crafts that are wholesaled to physical and online retailers and catalogue companies. Imagine Design is investigating the opportunities to create a direct retail strategy for Imagine Design products either online or in physical retail environments. AAI is seeking a business council to develop a direct to consumer retail strategy for Imagine Design.

The business council will partner with the business leader for Imagine Design to analyze the retail opportunity and develop strategies and channels for B to C delivery of Imagine Design.
